Still in the 50’s, but mostly sunny today. Very enjoyable.
We went back to Langlois to go to Rain Coast Arts Gallery. It was closed last time we were there. Mostly we came back because John wanted to get the knives sharpened. Art Gallery plus knife sharpening- interesting combo. The art was very good too, but they wouldn’t let me take photos. While we were waiting for the knives we strolled through downtown Langlois. We stopped at the B-B farm supply. The lady there told us the most photos taken of the town were of Sammy their cat-so I took one of her with Sammy. I took a photo of the bull shipping zone and she took me into the bathroom to see the other signs. They even had carnivorous plants there. People are very friendly here.
We strolled by the Greasy Spoon and the lady in B-B told us the market next door that was topped with this wooden hot dog had the best hot dogs in the world. All the truckers that drive though stop for them, they even have homemade mustard. So many dining choices and we were not hungry. On the way back we checked out Humbug Mountain State park’s campground and decided we like Cape Blanco better, in Humbug mountain the sites are all next to the highway. There was this moss in Humbug that looked like a moss waterfall.
We also stopped at the pioneer cemetery here in Cape Blanco. The area around the small church here named Mary Star of the Sea in the late 1800’s was the cemetery for family in friends. The church fell into disrepair in the 1920’s and was torn down and the remains in the graves were also removed, but they left a few headstones. Our friend Kats who lives down the road at Port Orford came to walk the beach at sunset and visit with us. John and Kats on the beach. It was fun to see her.
Kat’s and John walking on the beach with Needle rock ahead. We even found the eye of the needle on the rock as we walked by.
Sunset was dazzling. There were these curious round clouds after sunset. Vortex in the sea??
I stopped back at the rock shop that had the pine needle baskets and bought some torry pine needles and the young man there gave me a myrtle wood basket center to try. Kats brought us fresh local cranberries-since we are in the Cranberry capital of the world. She found this cool rock art on the beach and we saw a porcupine on the beach. I have never seen one of those on the beach before.
